A proud legacy to inspire our future
Backed by the stability and reliability of our parent company, Penn Mutual — one of America’s first mutually owned insurance companies — HTK has supported financial advisers on their path to success for more than 50 years.
The HTK story
While our solutions for advisers and clients are always evolving, our commitment to providing outstanding service and fostering strong relationships will never change.
John Hornor, a hardware merchant in Philadelphia, becomes intrigued with life insurance, a novel idea at the time, and incorporates The Penn Mutual Life Insurance Company.
Penn Mutual establishes HTK, then called Penn Mutual Equity Services, as a wholly-owned subsidiary and broker-dealer.
Penn Mutual Equity Services changes its name to Hornor, Townsend & Kent. HTK is named for Penn Mutual’s founder, John Hornor; first general counsel, Henry C. Townsend; and first financial adviser, Rodolphus Kent.
HTK becomes a registered investment adviser with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and expands our investment advisory services.
HTK celebrates 50 years of financial services to our advisers and clients, and ushers in a new era to continue to build upon our legacy of excellence.
